We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Volunteer Social Media Content Strategist
Location: Nigeria (Remote)
Employment Type: Volunteer
Hours: Flexible, approximately 10 hours per week
Reporting to: Social Media Team Leader
The Role
- As our Volunteer Social Media Content Strategist, you will help shape how IIR communicates across its social media platforms, developing content plans and campaign ideas that make our work accessible, engaging and relevant.
- You will work collaboratively with the Scriptwriter, Proofreader and Social Media Video & Publishing Officer, under the direction of the Social Media Team Leader.
- You will help guide the planning stage of the team’s content and support its development through to publication.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop social media content plans and campaign ideas aligned with IIR’s objectives.
- Create and maintain content calendars.
- Identify opportunities to increase engagement, reach and awareness.
- Develop ideas for posts, Reels, videos, stories and campaign series.
- Develop messaging, caption ideas and calls to action.
- Help translate IIR’s legal and social-impact work into accessible digital content.
- Provide content briefs and direction to support the Scriptwriter and wider social media team.
- Monitor content performance and recommend improvements.
- Keep up with relevant social media trends and platform developments.
- Work collaboratively with the Scriptwriter, Proofreader and Video & Publishing Officer to take content from planning through to publication.
- Support the Social Media Team Leader in maintaining a consistent and effective social media presence.
Who We’re Looking For
- We particularly welcome applications from media graduates, early-career professionals or creatives with a minimum of one year’s relevant experience and an interest in social media and social impact.
You should have:
- A strong understanding of major social media platforms.
- Creativity and an eye for engaging digital content.
- Good written communication skills.
- An understanding of content planning, audience engagement and social media trends.
- An ability to develop and communicate content ideas clearly.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
- An interest in social justice and nonprofit communications.
- Experience managing a social media page, student organisation, personal project, business or campaign is welcome.
