Job Summary
The Human Resources and Finance Officer (Intern) will provide vital operational support to humanitarian and development programmes.
The role combines Finance & Accounting and Human Resources & Administration, helping to maintain strong financial compliance and effective staff management standards required by international donors, local partners and government agencies.
The intern will support financial operations, budgeting, documentation, recruitment, employee records, statutory compliance, payroll administration and general office operations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance and Accounting – 50%
- Prepare weekly budgets and cash forecasts.
- Process electronic transfers.
- Archive financial and administrative documents.
- Manage petty cash and cash inventory.
- Manage cash and bank transactions through electronic transfers and cheque issuance.
- Process payment of staff salaries and transport allowances.
- Conduct monthly Budget vs Actual (BVA) reviews with the three Finance Assistants and Programme Manager.
- Process staff per-diem payments for field assignments and official trips.
- Track and monitor budgets.
- Monitor payment due dates for contracts.
- Act as custodian of cheques and cash.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
- Manage cash and bank transactions.
Human Resources & Administration Support – 50%
- Maintain effective and up-to-date employee records.
- Train staff on human resources policies and procedures.
- Track staff performance appraisals.
- Conduct human resources audits in field offices.
- Open files for newly recruited staff and ensure proper documentation.
- Coordinate recruitment processes, including job advertising, CV screening, shortlisting and interviews.
- Ensure WHT and PAYE taxes are charged according to statutory requirements and remitted to the appropriate authorities.
- Participate in organizing seminars and induction sessions for new staff.
- Educate new staff on organizational HR and Finance policies.
- Ensure regular servicing of office equipment.
- Draft employment contract letters.
- Conduct reference checks for newly recruited staff.
- Coordinate monthly purchase and payment of utility bills, including water, internet, electricity and refuse.
- Ensure monthly signing of timesheets and payroll by key staff and volunteers.
- Liaise between the office and security personnel.
- Archive financial and administrative documents.
- Maintain the organization’s asset register.
Required Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies
Software Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency in standard Microsoft Word tools.
Integrity and Confidentiality
- High level of integrity.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Communication
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
Adaptability
- Eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural and high-pressure humanitarian environments.
Internship Details
Duration: 9 Months
Work Schedule: 3 times per week

Stipend
This is an unpaid internship position.
However, the selected intern will receive a monthly stipend of:
₦50,000 per month
The intern is expected to work three times a week.
