About the Project

WINN, in partnership with Christian Blind Mission (CBM) and with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is implementing the Pro-IEVTiN project in Borno State.

The project promotes inclusive education and vocational training for refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees and host communities, with particular attention to women and persons with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time sign language interpretation during classroom lessons and learning activities.
  • Help learners with hearing impairments communicate effectively with teachers and classmates.
  • Work with teachers to make lessons, instructions and assessments accessible.
  • Support inclusive education trainings, awareness sessions and school activities.
  • Mentor teachers on effective communication with learners with hearing impairments.
  • Identify communication barriers and recommend practical solutions.
  • Document progress, challenges and good practices relating to inclusive education.
  • Promote child safeguarding, disability inclusion and gender-sensitive approaches.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in Sign Language, Special/Inclusive Education, Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in sign language.
  • Practical experience supporting learners with hearing impairments.
  • Experience in teacher training, coaching or mentoring is an advantage.
  • Good communication, facilitation and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of child safeguarding and disability inclusion principles.
