About the Project

WINN, in partnership with Christian Blind Mission (CBM) and with funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is implementing the Pro-IEVTiN project in Borno State.

The project aims to improve livelihoods and social inclusion through accessible education and vocational training for displaced and host communities, particularly women and persons with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance on Braille for learners with visual impairments.
  • Support teachers and learners in using Braille-based teaching and learning materials.
  • Guide schools on the appropriate use and maintenance of Braille equipment.
  • Support the adaptation of learning materials for accessibility.
  • Provide technical input on assistive devices, including Braille machines, Braille paper and styluses.
  • Identify barriers affecting learners with visual impairments and recommend solutions.
  • Mentor teachers and school personnel on inclusive teaching practices.
  • Support inclusive education trainings and awareness activities.
  • Document observations, challenges, good practices and recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant qualification in Special/Inclusive Education, Visual Impairment Education or a related field.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and practical experience in Braille.
  • Experience supporting learners with visual impairments.
  • Familiarity with Braille equipment and assistive learning materials.
  • Experience in teacher training, coaching or mentoring is an advantage.
  • Good communication, facilitation and reporting skills.
  • Understanding of child safeguarding and disability inclusion principles.
