Job Summary
The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, supporting recruitment, and ensuring compliance with Nigerian labour laws and donor regulations.
The position will support recruitment and onboarding, performance management, staff training, employee welfare, and HR record management while contributing to a positive, productive, and compliant work environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Staffing
- Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, including job posting, shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Prepare employment contracts and offer letters.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date job descriptions for all positions.
2. HR Administration & Record Management
- Maintain accurate and confidential staff records, including employment history, leave, training, and performance evaluations.
- Support payroll processing by providing accurate HR data to the Finance Unit.
3. Employee Relations & Welfare
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related enquiries and staff concerns.
- Promote a healthy, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.
- Support staff welfare and benefits administration.
- Address employee grievances professionally.
4. Performance Management & Capacity Building
- Support the implementation of performance appraisal systems.
- Guide supervisors and staff on performance improvement processes.
- Identify staff training needs and contribute to annual capacity-building plans.
5. Compliance & Policy Implementation
- Ensure HR policies are implemented consistently.
- Support updates to HR policies in line with Nigerian labour laws and donor standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing HR documentation and responses.
6. Safeguarding & Accountability
- Ensure staff compliance with CDHI’s Code of Conduct, Safeguarding, and Child Protection Policies.
- Promote a workplace culture that prevents exploitation, abuse, and harassment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- CIPM certification is an advantage.
- Minimum 3โ5 years of relevant HR experience, preferably within an NGO or donor-funded organization.
- Good knowledge of Nigerian labour laws, HR best practices, and recruitment procedures.
- Experience managing staff benefits, employment contracts, and performance management systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- High level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Excel and HR software/tools.
- Fluency in English.
- Knowledge of Hausa, Kanuri, or Fulfulde is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to field offices and project sites.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
The successful candidate will be expected to actively promote PSEA standards within CDHI and among beneficiaries served by the organization, with zero tolerance for sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment.
The HR Officer may also perform other duties assigned by supervisors from time to time.
