NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and provides assistance across areas including Livelihood and Food Security, Shelter/NFI, ICLA, Education, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH).
In northeastern Nigeria, NRC works with conflict-affected populations, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees and host communities in Borno State.
Job Summary
The MEAL Data Enumerator will support NRC’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning activities by carrying out data collection and field research.
The Data Enumerator will conduct surveys, assessments and other data collection activities required for programme planning, response coordination, monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.
The successful candidate will work closely with the MEAL Officer and programme teams, as well as LGA and community actors, to ensure that collected data is accurate, complete and reliable.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data from affected populations on needs, vulnerabilities and demographics.
- Record responses accurately using designated formats or electronic data collection devices.
- Contact project participants and conduct interviews through appropriate methods, including in-person interviews.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards throughout the data collection process.
- Document field observations, challenges and lessons learned.
- Identify and communicate ideas for improving future data collection activities.
- Accurately record responses and review completed data before submission.
- Submit completed assignments to the MEAL Officer and discuss developments or challenges encountered during fieldwork.
- Participate in daily reviews and perform other relevant duties assigned to the role.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Minimum of OND/NCE.
- B.Sc. is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years of prior experience in data collection or field research.
- Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Fluency in English and Hausa, as well as the relevant local language.
- Ability to translate between English and local languages.
- Proficiency in digital data collection tools such as Kobo Collect and RedRose.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical tasks.
