Job Title: NFE Project Officer
Location: Abuja FCT

The Role
- Supports successful delivery of the NFE portfolio in Nigeria through implementation of NFE programmes and projects, including Youth Connect, in compliance with British Council policies and procedures.
- Responsible for financial administration, reporting and data collection, operational project delivery and managing relations with delivery partners.
Accountabilities
Managing self and others:
- Demonstrates strong accountability and independence by effectively managing vendor performance while successfully prioritizing and delivering work to project deadlines.
Financial Support:
- Managed project financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure reporting, ensuring accurate financial oversight and compliance with audit requirements through timely maintenance of financial records.
- Maintained strong vendor relationships by ensuring timely payment processing and adherence to British Council financial policies, procedures, and financial management standards.
Project Management:
- Managed programme operations through data management, quality assurance, monitoring analysis, reporting, and grants administration, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and internal governance standards.
- Coordinated procurement, events, and training delivery while supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives, effective records management, and broader programme implementation across the Cultural Engagement team.
Relationship and Stakeholder Management:
- Effectively manages stakeholder, partner, vendor, and supplier relationships, ensuring strong collaboration, accountability, and the timely delivery of agreed services and outcomes.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:
- Promotes an inclusive, anti-racist culture by fostering equity, well-being, and belonging, while actively addressing personal biases and supporting diverse teams.
- Champions EDI best practices across programmes, strengthening gender equality, disability inclusion, social inclusion, and continuous learning in diversity and anti-racism.
Requirements
Language Requirements:
- The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Essential)
Role Specific Skills:
- Experience of working in a supporting role on programmes or projects.
- Administrative and financial administration experience.
- Good understanding of basic concepts of monitoring and evaluation, and how they are central to good project management.
