Job Summary
Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) is seeking a qualified Nurse, ITFC/IPD to provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre (ITFC) and Inpatient Department (IPD). The successful candidate will work in accordance with ALIMA protocols, universal hygiene standards, and established medical procedures.
The role focuses on caring for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition and other medical conditions while collaborating closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Implement and comply with universal hygiene standards, security rules, and nursing protocols.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapeutic feeds.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and conduct regular medical and nutritional follow-up.
- Maintain accurate patient records, forms, and statistical reports.
- Ensure infection prevention and control measures are consistently followed.
- Provide health education and counselling to patients and caregivers.
- Support emergency medical response activities and coordinate patient referrals when necessary.
- Assist with patient triage by identifying priority cases, providing first aid, and referring patients to doctors.
- Monitor the daily medical and nutritional progress of admitted patients.
- Promptly notify doctors of emergency situations or changes in patients’ conditions.
- Manage pharmacy supplies, food stock, and medical equipment, including inventory control, storage conditions, and monitoring expired drugs.
- Complete administrative duties, provide proper shift handovers, and report critical or problematic cases.
Educational Qualification
Applicants must possess:
- A Nursing Diploma with nutritional training (required).
Experience
Candidates should have:
- 1–3 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Previous experience working with an NGO will be an added advantage.
Required Skills
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Good knowledge of childhood illness management.
- Experience in inpatient management of severe acute malnutrition.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong adaptability and stress management skills.
- Empathy and patient-centred care.
- Good command of the English language.
- Knowledge of the local language is desirable.
