Job Summary
The Cash for Asset (CfA) Field Assistant will support the day-to-day implementation of Cash-for-Work (CfW) and Cash-for-Assets (CfA) activities under the WFP-supported Integrated Food System and Resilience Project in Jakusko LGA, Yobe State.
The position will support community mobilization, beneficiary registration and verification, labour organization, attendance tracking, field supervision and operational activities related to community asset creation.
The successful candidate will work with community labour groups involved in activities such as land preparation, solar irrigation setup, water-harvesting structures, warehouse site clearance and facility rehabilitation.
The role will also help ensure accurate attendance records, safe working conditions and compliance with WFP cash-disbursement procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Mobilization & Labour Organization
- Support community-level mobilization and sensitization.
- Assist with registering and organizing Cash-for-Work beneficiaries.
- Organize beneficiaries into appropriate working groups.
- Support beneficiary engagement across target communities in Jakusko LGA.
2. Asset Site Supervision
- Provide daily field-level support and supervision of community labour groups.
- Monitor activities at community asset creation sites.
- Ensure assigned tasks are carried out safely and according to approved technical plans.
- Report site challenges and operational issues to project leadership.
3. Attendance Tracking & Verification
- Maintain accurate daily attendance sheets and labour logs.
- Verify beneficiary attendance and participation.
- Support digital attendance and beneficiary verification processes.
- Ensure records are accurate and complete to facilitate timely cash disbursement.
4. Site Safety & Equipment Management
- Support the safe distribution and use of tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Monitor proper use and storage of tools and construction materials.
- Report damaged, missing or unsafe equipment.
- Promote safe working practices at all project sites.
5. Support for Vulnerable Groups
- Help ensure vulnerable participants can participate safely.
- Support appropriate work schedules and task assignments.
- Assist in providing suitable arrangements such as shade and access to clean water.
- Pay particular attention to the safety and dignity of women, adolescent girls and other vulnerable participants.
6. Community Liaison & Incident Reporting
- Serve as a field-level link between labour groups, Project Management Committees (PMCs) and local communities.
- Respond to routine field queries.
- Report attendance disputes, safety concerns and other incidents promptly.
- Communicate community feedback to project management.
Who Can Apply?
This position is suitable for candidates with a background in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Civil Engineering, Public Administration or related fields, particularly those with practical experience in community-based projects, Cash-for-Work or Cash-for-Assets programmes.
Candidates should be comfortable working directly with rural communities and spending significant time in outdoor/field environments.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Civil Engineering, Public Administration or a related field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of practical field experience.
- Experience in Cash-for-Work (CfW), Cash-for-Assets (CfA) or labour-intensive community infrastructure projects is highly relevant.
- Experience within humanitarian or development settings, particularly in Northeast Nigeria, is an advantage.
Field Experience
Candidates should have practical knowledge of:
- Community mobilization.
- Labour group supervision.
- Beneficiary registration and verification.
- Tool and equipment management.
- Field-level data collection.
- Attendance tracking and documentation.
WFP/Cash Programming Knowledge
- Familiarity with WFP cash-transfer procedures is an advantage.
- Knowledge of beneficiary registration and verification processes.
- Understanding of community-based targeting approaches.
Language Skills
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Strong fluency in Hausa.
- Knowledge of additional local languages spoken in Yobe State is highly desirable.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA)
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Strictly adhere to CDHI and WFP zero-tolerance policies on sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.
- Inform beneficiaries that participation in labour activities, task allocation, tool distribution and cash payments is free of charge.
- Ensure project benefits are never exchanged for favours, money or sexual acts.
- Help maintain safe and protective working environments.
- Protect women, adolescent girls and vulnerable community members from harassment or intimidation.
- Ensure beneficiaries know about available confidential reporting channels for misconduct or harassment.
Compliance & Ethics
The successful candidate must:
- Adhere to humanitarian principles, SPHERE standards and WFP Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) guidelines.
- Maintain honesty, integrity and impartiality during beneficiary registration and attendance verification.
- Avoid favouritism in labour selection, task allocation and project implementation.
- Respect local cultural practices, traditional leadership and community structures.
- Comply with CDHI policies on Code of Conduct, Anti-Fraud/Anti-Corruption, Child Safeguarding and Conflict of Interest.
