Job Summary
The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer will support the MEAL Manager in ensuring the effective implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems across projects. The role involves supporting programme quality, strengthening information management systems, managing complaints and feedback mechanisms, improving data quality, and promoting evidence-based decision-making across project activities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Support the implementation of project MEAL systems.
- Develop and manage digital data collection tools using KoboToolbox, ODK, and similar platforms.
- Coordinate project monitoring, reporting, and data quality assurance activities.
- Manage the Complaints Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM).
- Conduct baseline, endline, and other evaluation activities.
- Carry out routine field monitoring visits and data quality assessments.
- Analyse programme data and prepare reports for project management.
- Train staff and partners on MEAL tools and reporting systems.
- Support beneficiary information management and reporting.
- Promote organizational learning through reflection meetings and lessons learned.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards, safeguarding, confidentiality, and humanitarian accountability principles.
Requirements
Educational Qualification
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines:
- Statistics
- Economics
- Development Studies
- Social Sciences
- Public Health
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Any related field
Added Advantage
- Master’s Degree
- Professional Certification in Monitoring & Evaluation, Project Management, or Data Analysis.
Experience
Applicants should have:
- Minimum of 2–3 years progressive experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL).
- Experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
- Practical experience in project monitoring, surveys, data collection, analysis, reporting, and indicator tracking.
- Experience in Child Protection, WASH, Nutrition, Health, or emergency response will be an added advantage.
