Job Summary
The Caseworker/PSS Officer will support vulnerable individuals and communities through psychosocial support, case management, protection monitoring, referrals and community-based activities.
The role requires a strong commitment to confidentiality, dignity, safeguarding and survivor-centred approaches.
Key Responsibilities
Psychosocial Support
- Plan and deliver structured individual and group psychosocial support sessions.
- Ensure PSS activities are appropriate to age, gender and diversity.
- Prepare session plans and relevant materials.
- Provide basic psychosocial support to individuals requiring additional assistance.
- Conduct regular follow-up with beneficiaries.
- Provide information and awareness sessions on stress, distress and available PSS services.
- Maintain accurate PSS activity records.
Case Management
- Conduct assessments of identified cases.
- Develop appropriate case plans.
- Provide basic psychosocial and case-management support.
- Make referrals to specialized service providers where required.
- Follow established referral pathways.
- Maintain confidential and accurate case documentation.
- Conduct case follow-up and support case closure where appropriate.
Protection Monitoring
- Monitor and report protection concerns from target communities.
- Conduct individual protection interviews using approved tools and procedures.
- Collect and submit accurate field data.
- Identify individuals requiring protection or specialized services.
- Report emerging protection concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Support protection and PSS needs assessments.
Community Engagement
- Conduct community awareness and sensitization activities.
- Promote awareness of available protection and PSS services.
- Support service mapping and referral coordination.
- Maintain professional relationships with community stakeholders and service providers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Sociology, Community Development, Humanitarian Studies or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in similar roles with NGOs is desirable.
- Experience in case management, psychosocial support, protection or community-based programming.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of humanitarian and protection principles.
