Bridge for Women Development Initiative (BOWDI), formerly known as Borno Women Development Initiative, is a voluntary, non-profit, non-governmental organization focused on advancing the rights, protection, education and empowerment of women and girls, particularly in communities affected by insecurity in Northeast Nigeria. BOWDI works to strengthen communities through programmes supporting women and girls, education, livelihoods, protection and community resilience.
Job Summary
The MEAL Manager will provide leadership for BOWDI’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning systems, ensuring that programmes are effectively monitored, evidence-based, accountable and continuously improved.
The role will support programme quality, monitoring systems, assessments, evaluations, learning, accountability and the effective use of programme data for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation and review of BOWDI’s MEAL systems.
- Ensure MEAL systems are effectively implemented across programmes and projects.
- Develop and maintain appropriate MEAL tools and processes.
- Support project teams and partners to implement MEAL plans.
- Lead or support assessments, evaluations and programme reviews.
- Strengthen data collection, analysis, reporting and evidence generation.
- Ensure beneficiary feedback and accountability mechanisms are functional.
- Capture and communicate lessons learned and good practices.
- Support proposal development, logframe development and MEAL budgeting.
- Provide technical guidance and capacity building to programme and MEAL staff.
- Conduct or support field monitoring visits.
- Identify MEAL system gaps and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure donor and programme MEAL requirements are met.
- Promote learning and evidence-based programme adaptation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant university degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health or a related field.
- Significant experience in MEAL/M&E within humanitarian or development programmes.
- Previous experience working with NGOs and/or humanitarian organizations is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning systems.
- Experience with assessments, evaluations, data collection and analysis.
- Experience developing MEAL tools and systems.
- Experience supporting proposal development and programme design.
- Strong report-writing and analytical skills.
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with data management and analysis tools.
- Knowledge of MEAL information-management systems.
- Knowledge of digital data collection tools is an advantage.
- Strong written and spoken English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
